Man Driving Under Influenced Of Drugs Nabbed With Cocaine During Traffic Stop, Police Say

A 33-year-old man has been arrested for alleged possession of a large quantity of cocaine and driving while under the influence of drugs.

Brandon L. Richardson, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested around 11:15 p.m., on Friday, March 19, following a traffic stop in the Town of Poughkeepsie, said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Captain Michael O’Dowd. 

According to O'Dowd, Richardson was stopped in the area of Manchester Road in the Town of Poughkto the Traffic Division, conducted a traffic stop in the area of Manchester Road. 

An investigation found that Richardson was driving under the influence of drugs, O'Dowd said.

During the arrest process, a large quantity of cocaine was located on Richardson and in the vehicle he was operating, he added.

Richardson was charged with:

  • Two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Resisting arrest
  • DWI/Drugs

He was also issued numerous traffic violations.

Richardson was released on his own recognizance.
